Maker Space

Makerspaces are often well equipped STEM resource centres in towns and cities for people to book and come and make their stuff with equipment they wouldn't have at home. Likewise our Maker Space is for our students who have attended or are attending a course here and want to extend their learning independently with technical support.

We charge an hourly rate to cover our costs as we are not publicly funded at present.

As we develop our provision an increasingly popular option is to book a Maker Space to pursue your own ideas with the skills learned in the project sessions. We are also using this session for 'catch-up' where learners miss sessions due to illness etc and want to keep up to speed with their group.

Our policy is to give as much autonomy to learners as is safe and beneficial and so a key aspect to Maker Space is that participants get to use the laser cutter independently in a way that is not possible with other traditional workshop machinery and tools.
